Protect Yourself from the Gangsta Grip…not really.
May 23rd, 2009Giddy as a …
May 7th, 2009There must be something about shooting a gun with the gangsta grip that just makes people so happy and giddy. Like I mentioned before, I don’t shoot guns, so I don’t really get it. But this guy clearly loves it—look as his ear-to-ear smile.
Tell me, what it is about shooting a gun with the gangsta grip that makes you so giddy?
Gunsta v1.1 is Out!
May 2nd, 2009
Gunsta version 1.1 is out! There isn’t much difference in from version 1.0 to 1.1, just fine tuned some of the gestures to prevent accidental firing and reloading. I also added a ‘Tell a Friend’ button, which I hope people make heavy use of to promote the app.
I’ve got some ideas for future updates, but if you have features that you would like to see, feel free to contact me through the site or make use of the feedback button within the Gunsta.
Thanks.
Only the Speed of Light is Faster…Uh What?
April 29th, 2009So, this video has been seen almost 2 million times, but I saw it for the first time just a couple days ago. Although it doesn’t necessarily relate to the gangsta grip or anything gangsta related at all, I felt compelled to share this web gem. The video is a bit long, but it’s definitely worth the time. If you want, skip to the good stuff at a minute in where it really starts to get a bit unbelievable. Pay close attention to the mysterious and bizarre western spectators.
Don’t be this Guy
April 26th, 2009There’s a reason why the gangsta grip is used with pistols rather than shotguns and this guy does a good job of showing you exactly why. You could have taken the shotgun out of the video and he still would have done a good job of looking like an idiot. Funny enough, there are a bunch of other videos from this guy, which I’ll post later.
KRAPPS.com gives Gunsta a Shout-Out!
April 25th, 2009
This is pretty cool! KRAPPS.com, a blog that is dedicated to reviewing all the crazy, weird, useless, funny, iPhone applications in the App Store, gave Gunsta a shout-out. In a Gangsta and Homies edition post on KRAPPS, the writer talks about apps that would help gangsta wannabes become, well, even greater wannabes and mentioned Gunsta and Pour1Out. What I really like about this post is that, this person really understands the joke and the absurdity of these apps, oh and the hilarious opening two paragraphs.
I knew the Gangsta Grip was Cool
April 24th, 2009The ‘Gangsta Grip’ has totally permeated all age groups. Perhaps this is evidence of how influential violent video games and movies really are on our behavior (for the record, I totally play the most violent video games and watch the most violent movies). I found this image on Flickr by simply searching for ‘Gangsta Grip.’ Apparently, ‘Gangsta Grip’ is the term used to describe holding the gun sideways. Already this exploration into gangsta culture has proven to be educational.
Gangsta Shooting Range
April 24th, 2009I want to start things off right. A buddy found this today as we were throwing around the idea of starting this blog. So, it seems fitting that we start with the video that motivated me to start this blog. Here you go:
Welcome to Gunstaapp.com!
April 24th, 2009
So, what is Gunsta? Well, it’s an iPhone app that I recently released, which can be found here. Gunsta turns your iPhone into a gun, but to use Gunsta you have to hold your iPhone like a gangsta for it to fire. It features high quality sounds for both gun firing and shells falling to the ground. Hold the phone upright and make a gesture as if you were reloading to hear a reloading sound.
After releasing Gunsta, I realized that people might not be as familiar with shooting guns gangsta style. So, I decided to start a blog that collected videos, pictures, and anecdotes from around the web that demonstrate or otherwise describe what shooting a gun gangsta style is. I’m not quite sure what I’ll find, but it should be interesting.
If you want to contribute and you’ve purchased Gunsta, please send in your pictures or videos you want to share that demonstrate how you’re using Gunsta.
I need to make a couple things clear. First, Gunsta is toy and should only be used for entertainment purposes. Gunsta is not to be taken seriously. In all honesty, Gunsta is a joke, but a fun joke. Take it lightly.
Second, guns are dangerous and should always be taken seriously. Gunsta is not to encourage gun ownership or gun usage. Personally, I don’t like guns, don’t own a gun, and probably never will. Gunsta is simply making fun of an American cultural phenomenon – holding a gun, gangsta style.
Enjoy.
